Antonio Bujalance
( project info )
These artworks are part of the selected pieces for the catalogue of the retrospective exhibition "Antonio Bujalance | El Fulgor y la Tierra", held at the Sala de Exposiciones Vimcorsa in Córdoba, from 21 March to 2 June 2024, curated by Javier Flores.
From the introductory text of the catalogue:
"There are two constants in Antonio Bujalance's work that are developed in more than five decades of pictorial experimentation, thus giving title to this exhibition. The first is that gleam that transcends the purely stylistic to become flashes of emotion, so that the forms become detached from all that is anecdotal and unnecessary, as if animated by a transforming evanescence, a sparkle, an iridescence. The second constant can be found in the theme of the earth, assumed in the vast majority of his production from all possible meanings of the term.
We are dealing with an artist in permanent ferment, who throughout his career has never ceased to experiment, giving free rein to the most enthusiastic longings of his inner self, from the aestheticised post-cubism of his beginnings, passing through lyrical abstraction and informalist expressionism, to the incorporation of photographic collage in his latest works".
